Step-by-step guide
Connecting your sending email
This guide explains how to make your payment reminders go out from your company’s email. Only an owner or administrator can do this, and it’s set up in Settings › Email connection.
Your usual address
Your customers get the reminder from the email address they already know, not from an unknown sender.
In your sent folder
Every reminder is saved in your mailbox, as if you’d written it yourself.
Replies come to you
If a customer replies, the reply lands in your inbox.
Which option should I choose?
- · If your email is Gmail or Google Workspace: the “Connect with Google” button.
- · If it’s Outlook, Hotmail or Microsoft 365: the “Connect with Microsoft” button.
- · If it’s any other provider (Hostalia, IONOS, Hostinger, OVHcloud, iCloud, Yahoo…): the “Mail server” option.
- · With Hostalia: server
smtp.servidor-correo.net, port587, username the full mailbox address, and STARTTLS.
Gmail and Google Workspace
- 1
Click “Connect with Google”
In Settings › Email connection, click the Google button. Google’s sign-in page will open.
- 2
Choose the account you want to send from
Select your company’s collections email account (for example, administracion@tuempresa.es if you use Google Workspace).
- 3
Accept the permission to send email
Google will ask your permission for Remitide to send emails on your behalf. Remitide only uses that permission to send reminders: it doesn’t read your inbox or your messages.
- 4
Go back to Remitide
You’ll see the message “Email connected” and the address your reminders will be sent from.
Outlook, Hotmail and Microsoft 365
- 1
Click “Connect with Microsoft”
Microsoft’s sign-in page will open.
- 2
Sign in with your collections email account
Both a personal account (outlook.com, hotmail.com) and a business account on Microsoft 365 will work.
- 3
Accept the permissions
Microsoft will ask for permission to read your profile and send email on your behalf. In some companies, the person who manages Microsoft 365 has to approve it the first time; if you see that message, send them the link Microsoft shows.
- 4
Go back to Remitide
Reminders will go out from your Outlook mailbox and be kept in Sent Items.
Other providers: mail server
In the “Other provider” section, choose where your email is hosted and Remitide will fill in the server and port. You’ll only need to enter your address, your username and the right password. The connection is checked before saving; if it fails, nothing is saved. The password is stored encrypted and never shown again.

iCloud Mail
- Go to account.apple.com › Sign-In and Security › App-Specific Passwords.
- Generate a password named “Remitide”.
- Username: your full iCloud address. Password: the app-specific password you just generated.
Yahoo Mail
- Go to your Yahoo account security settings and generate an app password named “Remitide”.
- Username: your full Yahoo address. Password: the app password you generated.
Zoho Mail (Europe)
- If you have two-factor authentication turned on, create an application-specific password in your Zoho account security settings.
- Username: your full address. If your account isn’t a European one, the server is smtp.zoho.com.
Hostalia
- Username: the full email account that exists as a mailbox in Hostalia (for example, admin@tuempresa.es).
- Password: that mailbox’s password, the same one you use to sign in to Hostalia webmail.
- The sending address can only be an alias if Hostalia lets you send from that alias; if it fails, use the same mailbox for Address and Username.
- Remitide uses STARTTLS on port 587, as Hostalia recommends.
IONOS (1&1)
- Username: your full email address. Password: the mailbox password, the same one you use in IONOS webmail.
Hostinger
- Username: your full email address. Password: the mailbox password you set in the Hostinger panel.
OVHcloud
- Username: your full email address. Password: the mailbox password you use in OVHcloud webmail.
GoDaddy
- Username: your full email address. Password: the mailbox password. If your GoDaddy email is actually Microsoft 365, see the Outlook section.
STRATO
- Username: your full email address. Password: the mailbox password.
Email on your own domain with another provider
Choose “Other / own domain”. You’ll find the details in your hosting panel or in the email settings on your phone or in Outlook:
- · Outgoing server (SMTP): usually smtp.yourdomain.com or mail.yourdomain.com.
- · Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS).
- · Username: almost always the full email address.
- · Password: the mailbox password.
Check that it works
- · In Settings › Email connection you should see “Your reminders are sent from” followed by your address.
- · When the first reminder goes out, look for it in your sent folder.
- · You can disconnect your email at any time from the same screen. With Google, the permission is also removed from your account.
Common problems
- “The password is incorrect” with Gmail, iCloud or Yahoo
- These providers don’t accept your normal password. Create an app password by following your provider’s steps, or use the “Connect with Google” button.
- “The server isn’t responding on that port”
- Check the server and try the other port (465 or 587). If it still doesn’t respond, connect with Google or Microsoft, which don’t use a mail server.
- Outlook or Microsoft 365 rejects the server connection
- Microsoft has withdrawn password access. Use the “Connect with Microsoft” button.
- Microsoft asks for an administrator’s approval
- In some companies on Microsoft 365, the person who manages the account has to approve Remitide’s permission the first time.
- Reminders land in the spam folder
- Ask whoever manages your domain to check the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records. With Gmail and Microsoft connected through their account, these are usually already set up.
- “The connection has expired”
- You’ve changed the account password or withdrawn the permission. Go back to Settings › Email connection and connect it again.
